Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) was founded on November 1, 1901 at Richmond College, now the University of Richmond, in Richmond, Va. Since then, SigEp has grown to become one of the largest fraternities in the country.
Around 15,000 SigEp undergraduates are on 240 college campuses each year. They are among the more than 300,000 lifetime brothers who have joined since 1901.
SigEp was founded with the cardinal principles of Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love. Our mission is “Building Balanced Men,” which is achieved through a commitment to Sound Mind and Sound Body.
View the perspective of National Director and Grand Secretary Shawn McKenna, Maine '77,
at the 2011 Conclave as he shares what SigEp and the cardinal principles mean to him.
“You get guys from all different kinds of backgrounds, and they come together as one. It’s kind of like another football team.”
