Sigma Phi Epsilon has provided professional support to its chapters since 1922 when Clarence Freeark, Illinois ‘23, served as the first traveling secretary.
Today, regional directors support the Fraternity as full-time traveling consultants, providing services and resources to undergraduates and volunteers in all areas of chapter operations. These brothers travel from early August to early May each year, following an in-depth nine week training period over the summer. The training includes sessions with expert facilitators, executive level classes at the University of Richmond, and professional public speaking instruction. Their expertise is focused in the areas of recruitment, the membership experience, chapter leadership training, and fiscal health.
Additionally, regional directors can support chapters with risk and crisis management as well as volunteer engagement in coordination with the chapter’s district governor. RDs also serve as the Headquarters staff’s primary point of contact for campus-based Greek Life professionals. Read more in the Regional Director Suite of Services.
