Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity

About the Foundation

Established in 1943 in honor of Fraternity Founder and long-time Executive Director William L. "Uncle Billy” Phillips, the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation funds scholarship and leadership programs that develop the academic, leadership, citizenship, and personal potential of college undergraduate and graduate students. Thanks to the generosity of alumni, family and friends, the Foundation continues to provide the necessary environments, education, experiences, scholarships and loans.

The roots of the Foundation date to 1930 when, in the face of the Great Depression, SigEp established a Student Loan and Fellowship Fund from pooled dues to aid worthy members in completing their college education.

The Foundation works with the Sigma Phi Epsilon staff, the donor family, friends, and our undergraduate brothers to enhance the Foundation’s goals:

  • Help develop undergraduate chapters where intellectual excellence and opportunities for leadership thrive.

  • Recognize and encourage academic achievement through scholarships, student loans, and recognitions.

  • Support undergraduate development programs at the campus, regional, national, and world levels that develop the scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and personal potential of college undergraduates.

Put simply: the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation turns potential into reality, opportunity into experience.
