Introducing New Balanced Man Program Resources

Seth Irby, Louisiana State '11, Director of the Balanced Man Program

This summer, a cooperative effort among the Headquarters staff, volunteers and undergraduates from across the country examined opportunities to improve Balanced Man Program resources offered to chapters. This led to new resources to help your chapter successfully implement the program.

The Balanced Man Program Guide is a comprehensive owner’s manual for the BMP. This document takes a deep dive into the philosophy, people, process and programming of the BMP.  It includes the best parts of all the old BMP resources and best practices from chapters around the country. George John, vice president of member development for Boston University SEC, said the Balanced Man Program Guide helped their newly formed chapter fully understand the program. “It provided the fundamentals for each challenge, while giving enough leeway for me to tailor it to Boston University’s unique student and Greek life,” John said.

The Balanced Man Program Guide is accompanied by four challenge databases:

Each challenge database has over 100 suggestions for challenge content to provide your chapter with quality programs and activities that fulfill the outcomes of each challenge, which can be found on pages 41-42 of the Balanced Man Program Guide. You can choose from the menu of options based on your chapter’s needs as you improve your current challenges or guide new ones. Alex Dudley, vice president of member development for Texas Gamma, used the challenge databases to help improve their current challenges. “The incredible amount of ideas presented in the databases cater to chapters of all different shapes and sizes,” Dudley said.

In addition to these documents, you can watch the Introduction to the BMP webinar. This video provides fundamental education on the BMP that will help your chapter get started with the Balnced Man Program Guide and the Challenge Databases.

These important resources are the key to successfully implementing or improving the Balanced Man Program at your chapter.  Don’t wait to improve your chapter’s member experience.
