WYOMING CHAPTER LEADERS RECOGNIZED BY AWARD

 When the University of Wyoming prepared to bestow the 2010 Tobin Memorial Award upon the most outstanding male graduate, there was a notable trend among the finalists—three of the five were SigEps.
The annual award is based on academic excellence and achievement, service to the university, participation and leadership in the community, campus activities and citizenship qualities. These characteristics run parallel to Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity's cardinal principles of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love.
While I was proud to win the award, I was even more proud to be among SigEp's trio of senior finalists, with my brothers Jonathan McBride and Matthew Fournier. These brothers, both in my graduating class, worked closely with me on the executive board during our time at college, and made significant contributions to our chapter.
During our senior year, each of us switched from leadership roles within the chapter into mentoring roles. This enabled us to share our mistakes and experiences, so that younger members could build and improve on our work. We each left behind a legacy by sharing our ideas and goals with our mentees.
I never would be as active in my community, as motivated, and as passionate as I am if I had never accepted my bid to become a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. At every turn, SigEp has been there for me. It has helped me find friends of exceptional caliber, given me financial support through an Educational Foundation scholarship and provided me leadership training through its leadership programs. Without my fraternity behind me, I would be a shadow of what I am today.
Now that I have graduated, I am pursuing a doctoral degree in computer science at Arizona State University. Jonathan McBride is serving Sigma Phi Epsilon as a regional director and Matthew Fournier is applying to attend medical school. We all owe much of our future success to SigEp.
