NEW MEMBER PROGRAM CONTINUES TO EXPAND AND EVOLVE
After an energy-filled Conclave this summer, SigEp kept the momentum going with a successful line of leadership programs in the fall. Over 2,300 new members attended 31 EDGE programs across the country, the most participants to attend EDGE programs away from their campus. The program curriculum focuses on living a healthy and balanced lifestyle for the remainder of college and beyond. It is designed to lay the leadership groundwork for SigEp members to fully benefit from their fraternal experience and make an important leap in their personal development journey. "EDGE was a great crash course on living a successful life,” said Chris Thornton, New Hampshire ‘15. "I left feeling motivated and equipped with the tools to accomplish my goals. EDGE is an important experience for every SigEp." Sessions throughout the day focused on topics ranging from understanding SigEp and its values to personal strategic planning and making healthy life choices regarding drugs and alcohol. The well-versed volunteers who helped facilitate the sessions included SigEp upperclassmen, alumni and university officials. "Being a facilitator for EDGE makes me feel like I have paid it forward to some degree,” said Justin Stubelt, Florida Gulf Coast ‘11. “I think the EDGE participants get a great understanding of what SigEp really is and where it has been. They leave EDGE with a new outlook on SigEp." An additional 10-15 EDGE programs will be held throughout the country this spring. The curriculum has been enhanced to focus on: Our values, our Ritual, and why they matter; leadership and how it begins with you; building your college and SigEp roadmap; and understanding yourself, your masculinity, and your choices as a man. The modified program will also incorporate a low ropes course, team-building exercises and include an overnight stay at a retreat facility. More program information will be available soon, or you can contact Trent Patterson with any questions. Aside from EDGE, SigEp also saw the highest number of Tragos Quest to Greece applications in the history of the program. Participants in this life-changing program will be announced at the five Carlson Leadership Academies in February.
