The Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation is now taking applications for three of its prestigious scholarships. These scholarships help continue the legacy of "Building Balanced Men" by giving an extra helping hand to those most deserving.
National Competition Scholarship
The National Competition Scholarship gives $1,000 each to brothers who have proven themselves as outstanding scholars and balanced men. The recipients are not just accomplished in one area of college life, but rather are accomplished in the classroom, on campus, in the community and in their chapters. This group is SigEp’s best and brightest and reaffirms our commitment to being a valued partner in higher education.
To apply, complete the National Competition Scholarship Application. The application deadline is September 27, 2012.
Thomas O. Hicks Scholarships
Part of "Building Balanced Men" is transforming undergraduates and shaping their potential. The Thomas O. Hicks scholarship is given thanks to a generous endowment from Life Trustee Thomas O. Hicks, Texas ’68. When he was a sophomore, the Texas Alpha Chapter motivated Brother Hicks to get serious about his grades, which had suffered during his freshman year. He improved his GPA significantly and continued to be a good student. Because of his good grades, he was able to attend graduate school at the University of Southern California and obtain his master's degree. Hicks went on to a successful career in international business, banking and investing. He and his family live in Dallas, Texas.
Six Hicks Scholarships, with at least one going to Texas Alpha, Brother Hicks’ home chapter, are $2,000 given to current juniors in good standing with their chapter for significant GPA improvement from freshman to sophomore year. These scholarships can be paid to either the recipient’s school or his AVC for room and board. Fill out the online application by September 27, 2012, for consideration.
Study Abroad Scholarship
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor who valued the appreciation of the lessons learned from the experience of studying abroad, this scholarship will help aid a brother in his quest for this experience. One scholarship for $1,000 is available for an undergraduate currently studying abroad or formally accepted to study abroad in 2013. Fill out the online application by September 27, 2012, for consideration.
