Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity

Academics

Sigma Phi Epsilon believes strongly that a college student’s top focus must be his academic studies.

Committing time to SigEp should not be a detriment to a student’s studies.  In fact, the Fraternity can complement the education a student receives in the classroom and offer a network of support that is essential to academic success.

SigEp maintains a high GPA by upholding high standards during recruitment, and throughout a member’s undergraduate tenure.  Chapters also cultivate a living-learning environment in their houses by partnering with faculty members to bring unique academic opportunities directly to our brothers.

In 2006, SigEp became the first fraternity with a cumulative GPA above a 3.0.  Since then, we have remained one of the top fraternities in the country academically.

In the spring 2011 semester, 231 chapters reported a 3.11 all-member GPA.

In recent years, SigEp has shifted its focus to measuring our chapters against the all-campus average GPA.  This benchmark shows the value that the SigEp experience provides undergraduates relative to their host institution.  In spring 2011, 115 of 191 chapters reporting an all-campus average were above it—and 27 chapters exceeded it by .25 or more.  More than 55 SigEp chapters reported the highest GPA of any fraternity on campus.

2012 statistics will be updated when they become available.
