SigEp recognizes two organizations as the Fraternity’s official philanthropic partners. These partnerships were formally established after presentations made at a Grand Chapter Conclave.
While chapters are welcome to support any philanthropic group they choose, SigEp is proud to promote YouthAids and T.A.K.E. Defense. Many chapters set up their own local philanthropic events and drives and share the proceeds with these organizations.
YouthAids
YouthAIDS is an HIV/AIDS fundraising and awareness campaign targeting young people ages 15-24. The campaign began in 2001 with a small group of partners that were willing to take a chance and make a difference. Their commitment gave YouthAIDS the platform to save lives. More information is available at www.psi.org/youthaids.
T.A.K.E. Defense
T.A.K.E. Defense is an organization that promotes safety awareness and offers self defense training programs for women of all ages. The organization was founded in the name of Ali Kemp, who was murdered at the age of 19. More information is available at www.takedefense.org.
National Philanthropy Task Force
At the 2011 Grand Chapter Conclave, the Grand Chapter voted to create a National Philanthropy Task Force.
The Task Force will develop and submit a written proposal that defines the value, or lack of value, in single or multiple philanthropic partnerships, and recommend a set of criteria to reference when evaluating a potential philanthropic partnership.
Any recommendation from the task force would need to be voted on at the 2013 Conclave in Dallas, Texas.
