The Balanced Man Scholarship (BMS) allows SigEp to find the best men on any campus. The BMS chairman is responsible for planning and executing the scholarship, which is the single best recruitment tool in the fraternity world. By running the scholarship with an eye on recruiting the most talented applicants, he builds a pipeline of potential new members. The BMS chairman is appointed by the vice president of recruitment. Together they contribute greatly to the quantity and quality of a chapter’s membership. Recruiting the top applicants drives a better fraternity experience and more long-term success for the chapter.
The top priorities of the Balanced Man Scholarship chairman are to:
- Create a timeline and develop a plan for the BMS.
- Select a BMS committee to implement the scholarship.
- Communicate with incoming students to drive applications for the scholarship.
- Facilitate an interview process for all qualified applicants.
- Oversee the planning and execution of a Balanced Man Scholarship banquet.
- Ensure top candidates are included on the vice president of recruitment’s potential new member list.
- Set and work to achieve SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely).
