Residential Learning Community chairman

The Residential Learning Community (RLC) chairman is responsible for implementing the concepts and ideals of the Residential Learning Community program at his chapter.  He works with chapter leaders, alumni-volunteers, and campus faculty and academic professionals to foster a living-learning environment for all members of the chapter.  The RLC chairman is appointed by the vice president of member development.

The priorities of the RLC chairman are to:

  • Create a culture committed to offering all members a living-learning environment.
  • Recruit and engage faculty fellows to implement innovative academic and chapter programming.
  • Collaborate with the executive board to infuse residential learning programming into all aspects of chapter life.
  • Maintain a clean and healthy space in the chapter house dedicated to academics.
  • Ensure the chapter sponsors scholarships, incentives and awards promoting academic success.
  • Maintain RLC accreditation through communication and collaboration with fraternity Headquarters staff.
  • Set and work to achieve SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely).

A great RLC Chairman can communicate the ideals and critical elements of the Residential Learning Community model to potential new members, brothers, alumni, volunteers and parents.  He will also develop key partnerships with faculty and staff to advance the RLC experience and garner additional support and guidance.

People who will assist or support the RLC chairman are:

  • AVC members
    • Chapter counselor
    • Faculty fellows

  • Undergraduate leaders
    • Chapter president
    • Vice president of member development
    • Vice president of recruitment
