Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity

Vice president of finance

The vice president of finance is the chapter’s chief financial officer.  He is entrusted with managing the chapter’s budget and properly allocating financial resources.

The top priorities of the vice president of finance are to:

  • Create a budget that aligns with the chapter’s priorities and ensures financial stability.
  • Maintain financial records that account for all expenses and revenues.
  • Collect dues from brothers and enforce payment plans.
  • Stay current on all financial obligations to the Grand Chapter, university or AVC.
  • Ensure the chapter files an annual tax return with the IRS.
  • Set and work to achieve SMART Goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely).

A great vice president of finance understands budgets and basic accounting, demonstrates responsibility with money and can hold his brothers accountable to their financial obligations.  He has the maturity to work with volunteers to handle large sums of money and understands the risks and liability associated with his role.

People that will assist or support the vice president of finance are:

  • AVC members
    • AVC Treasurer
    • AVC VP of Housing (If chapter has a facility)

  • Undergraduate leaders
    • Budget chairman
    • House manager (If chapter has a facility)
    • Kitchen director (If chapter has a facility)

The vice president of finance should be familiar with the finance resources available through the Fraternity.  Be sure to visit the finance page for more information.  Visit the chapter standards and bylaws page to learn more about financial responsibilities of individual brothers.

Vice presidents of finance should also bookmark the page to submit online payments for both the fall and spring bill.
